What is a DJ record pool, and how do you choose one?

Updated October 17, 2026

In shortA record pool is a subscription service where labels and artists supply their tracks to DJs, often as club versions with intros and outros. It is legal because the rights holders agreed. Pick one by your genres, the formats offered and the price, usually $10 to $50 a month.

How it works

  • Labels and artists send their tracks to the pool, with their consent.
  • Subscribed DJs download club-ready versions: intro, clean, dirty, edits.
  • Rights holders gain exposure and, depending on the pool, payment.

What to look for

  • Genres: some pools serve open-format DJs, others house or afro.
  • Formats: 320 kbps MP3 only, or WAV and AIFF too.
  • Price, download limits and how easy it is to cancel.

What about DJWavPool?

  • DJWavPool is a pool filled by SoundCloud artists, with their consent.
  • It has the edits and bootlegs that classic pools do not carry.
  • It starts free, then $6 a month for unlimited downloads.
